Pulp by Byredo is a juicy mix of vivid notes that will freshen up and energize you during the whole day. The feeling when you have Pulp on your skin is similar to tasting a fresh grown-up fruit: no sugar-coating, just a tiny hint of sweetness to bring out all the nuances. Citrusy, slightly bitter bergamot, elegant black currant notes, zingy red apple, green and milky sweet facets of fresh fig combine together to create a unique balance with the attractive tiara flower, spiced with sweet cardamom. The dry-down is joyful because of the soft peach blossom base notes, and even though you can feel the woodiness of cedar, chocolate notes with nutty facets emerge to make this perfume a sensual experience for all of your senses.
The inspiration behind Bal d'Afrique is Paris in the late 1920's, a period when the city was infatuated with a distinctive vision of African culture and art. Drawing on the exotic mix of the avant-garde and vibrance that fueled the artistic life of the city, Jerome Epinette created a fragrance embracing the fabulous Josephine Baker as his muse.
The vivacious blast of sunny citrusy scents with a pinch of spicy notes makes an euphoric opening, followed by a sheerly fresh bouquet of violet, jasmine and cyclamen. Earthy and spicy vetiver in the heart notes is complemented with sweet amber and warm musk until it becomes smooth and, velvety - almost edible.
Bal d'Afrique has woody closing, almost a musky touch, perfectly balanced with the warm amber, making this fragrance adorable, vivid, but mischievous and addictive at the same time.
