Laudano Nero is a thing of beauty. Starts off complex with a very boozy tobacco and I am guessing wormwood? Middle is mostly sweet honeyed rose and other woody notes and the base is a very smoky incense and oud with labdanum. This is one of those frags where there are just way too many notes to really pick them apart but the sum total of the parts is just amazing. It does remind me of Black Afgano but I think LN is smoother and probably better value for money as well but that is mostly a personal preference. It is one of those frags I love sniffing the bottle even when I am not wearing it. It is dark and seductive and all masculine, been wearing it mostly in the nights now during the monsoon and getting lots of compliments and I think that's it's ideal environment...a dark stormy night, drink in hand, cigar smoke, girlfriend sniffing your neck optional! Total love and one of my favorites. 9/10
When I first sprayed it on my arm I was like O MY GOD! This stuff is so complex and intriguing. Absolutely wonderful. Does have the same dark, mysterious vibe as Black Afgano but is different in smell. It has a touch of softness and sweetness which Black Afgano lacks. It is a better alternative to BA for people who don't want to spend an arm and a leg to own one. Worth each and every penny! Go get your nose on this one. Only recommended for people who have a highly developed sense of smell and who want to experience the higher level of perfumery. If you are a youngster who wants to impress the masses, this is definitely not for you. This one is for the more mature crowd and for the gentlemen out there. Will get you noticed and make you stand apart from the crowd. I'm impressed. Highly recommend it.
I couldn't stop myself from writing a re-review of this wonderful scent. I can smell all the individual notes and the transition from the opening to the dry down is just marvelous. This is mostly a night time and cool weather scent. Does not do well in daytime or in heat. If Batman had a signature scent I bet this would be it. I have never been to Paris but when I smell the dry down I could imagine myself walking alone in a cobblestone covered street, on a dark and rainy night.
