Hype or no hype The Mobster is a darn good fragrance.Period.
I get mostly Tobacco and oud with some patchouli and the whole thing has a boozy vibe going for it so the name is kinda apt. I can picture the whole Cigars n booze n 20's speakeasy scene. I love it when a fragrance has a theme and tells a story, adds to the whole aura and this has a nice macho one going for it. ( Dont wear this to a job interview!!)
Performance is very good, stays pretty strong on for atleast 5-6 hours before settling a bit but I keep getting whiffs even 10 hours in. All this with 3 sprays so very impressed. I can see the TF Tobacco Oud and TV comparisons but this also reminds me more of Phaedons Tabac Rouge. Just to be clear, The Mobster is the same "type" of fragrance but is in no way a "clone", it does it's own thing and it does it well. Keep an open mind and judge the perfume ( not the perfumer or the house or its origins or the fact that it's not pretentious or overpriced) on it's own merits and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I know I was and I am getting a second bottle of this juice. It's fantastic.
